More about the Back Gate Kids...

Here are some more amazing pictures of our times with the Back Gate Kids. They were great fun to play with and bring back good memories!

Every week, our biggest issue was which kids to let in - because each week, the number of kids outside our gate when we went to let them in grew! From 25 to 35 to 50 to 70 even! At that point, we said, "This is too much!" Kids were getting hurt because there were so many of them, and it was stressful for everyone. So then we went on a date system, where we wrote the date they came on the back of their name card, and so then we only let the kids come once every two weeks. But then we got kids promising that they had not been there the week before!

Little Benjamin... "Auntie! Auntie! I promise I didn't come last week! Please let me in, Auntie! I didn't come last week!" Such a sweet, innocent face!

And how can you resist the very small kids who don't understand "Next week", but instead start to cry? So the problem definitely was not entirely resolved, but it was greatly ameliorated.

Anna Beth much loved by the kids!

I think this was my most common activity with the kids - pushing them on the tire swing.

Chaos! But much fun as well, with some very fun loving kids :)

The swing again...the woman pushing the little girl was one of our translators, Rahila

Maybe the ball is a bit too big for this little guy?
